Song: Blossom

Overall Impression
Jazz composer Pablo Embom invites listeners to join him on a boundless and fantastical musical journey, with his release of "Blossom." The themes range from the magical to the majestic on this piece, and are delivered primarily by stirring woodwinds and sweeping strings with nimble piano and assorted percussion in accompaniment. Sections flow together seamlessly, united by expressive and exotic melodies within striking motifs that play out in a number of incredibly interesting variations and forms. Taking influences from both late 19th century classical music, as well as mid 20th century avant-garde jazz, Pablo Embom's "Blossom" is certain to delight and fascinate nearly any fan of contemporary instrumental music.

Strongest Point(s)
Incredible production, impressive mix. Simply an amazing composition and arrangement. Great instrumentation and orchestration. Very visual style, would translate well to film. Wonderful dynamic contrast with smooth transitions between the different sections. Very interesting scales and modes used throughout, should help to engage audiences and encourage active listening. The section around 3:00 is a great change of pace, both tonally and texturally. I also really loved the piano section around 4:45 that takes an almost post-tonal approach. Overall I was absolutely blown away by this piece, what a ride! It feels like just the perfect length, and provides an absolutely breathtaking listening experience. Brilliant work on this, in all facets.
